This is an exceptional product which has given excellent results whenever used.
My son often borrows it - lets say he isn't the gentlest handler of goods! - but even he hasn't broken it!
Well done

Real value, Dave - 10th March 2010
My last Phillips battery shaver fell to bits after at least 10 yrs daily use. I use rechargeable batteries they last several weeks per charge. I have a charger that will work on mains and the car. I have used an electric shaver since Dec 1950. My last expensive shaver has given up in 9 months less than 1 year of purchase
Great for it's modest cost, Ben Miller - 14th January 2010
Shavers.co.uk performance: 10/10 (as usual)
This shaver's performance: 8/10
When you take it for what it is and what it costs, it is a great little shaver....disposable almost. Just don't think it's going to give you the best shave in the world (i.e. I wouldn't use it on my wedding day or before a job interview) but if you're happy with a 'tidy up' type shave this is ideal. Delivery and product, Dan - 12th January 2010
Delivery:- Ordered Friday delivered today Tuesday.
Product:- Bit flimsy and not boxed, comes in one of those plastic moldings you have to wrestle with to get at the product, comes with a brush and batteries but no carry bag, but it has a strong motor, runs about the same speed as it's big cousin HQ6990, shaves well but nicked my neck a few times but so does the 6990.
Reckon it's a good buy for 13 quid though.

Shaver.co.uk performance: 10/10 - It was practically here before I ordered it. It's my second brilliant experience with them :)
Philips HQ40 performance: 10/10
I'm surprised. When I first got it and inserted the batteries and switched it on, it's quiet, seemingly low-powered whirr left me thinking whether it was man enough for the job. How did it turn out?

Click to Read More > only used it twice (so please bear in mind my face is not yet accustomed to the shaver) but it's a GREAT shave. The first shave with it was probably less than 24hrs after a 'with the grain' wet shave. It gave me the feeling that I'd just 'wtg' wet shaved again. Then I left it 48hrs to see how it copes with a longer beard.
To it's credit, I'm sitting here with about the same feeling as a new 'wtg' wet shave. OK, the second shave took about 10 minutes as I had to hack about a bit but I'm impressed nonetheless. I probably wouldn't attempt to use it if my beard was any more than 48hrs old though.
As for the cut, I have a feeling that it's only going to get better as my face gets more used to it. What's more, it very small, maybe slightly smaller than say a packet of cigarettes, is light and ultra portable.
And all this for only £13 including next day P&P *AND* half decent batteries included? I believe the Americans call it a 'no brainer' :) Buy one!

Great for everyday use, as well as traveling!!!, Sam Kent - 8th July 2009
Brilliant! A great simple cut. I use this as a travel shaver but its great for everyday use as well.
Nothing negative to say about this product. If you use good quality batteries then they will last for upto 2 months but if you use cheap ones they will run out quite quickly.
I'm off to buy a spare one so ive got one when they discontinue this item. You would be mad not to get one of these!!!
